I speak both English and Italian (Im half and half).
Im a Mk1 owner, have lived in London and Cardiff (in Wales) for most of the last 21 years, but I come back to Italy (Saronno and Lago Maggiore) about 4 times per year, and Im moving to Saronno in September to study in Milan.
I look forward to meeting you all, initially over the interenet, but hopefully in person soon!

Hi Alex, let me say that your MKI is astonishing: it seems to have no more than 2 years!!
I've already asked this on Italian forum but still no reply if I don't go wrong: have you found us by MROC or how?
This January I've been to London (first time for me: it's quite strange, I've been in a lot of places in Europe, America and Asia but for one or other reason never to London before...) and I liked it a lot (I mean central London obviously... ).
And, with my surprise, I discovered that now, with this "high Euro", prices are quite good, very good on plasma TVs and electronics in general, and infact I bought a fantastic Sony universal remote controller for TV, VCR, DVD, Sat, Hi-Fi (& so on...) that in Italy is neither imported!!
But let's stay in topic: what about your car? Have you modified it in any way? How long do you have it? Have you had any problem up to now?
Let me say... and if you have any news from MROC about MKII pre-cats issue and how they are "managed" by Toyota in England, let us say... |

No, stavo cercando degli club interessanti Italiani sul Interenet, ho trovato ClubToyotaItalia, e poi da li, ho trovato anche questo

E poi: si dice "to go wrong" in inglese, o te lo sei appena inventato? |

As mentioned above, I found this site whilst looking for Italian car clubs for when I move to Saronno in a few months.
Thanks for the compliments about my car, Ive owned it for just over a year and its had a LOT of work done! I bought it as a project to fix up and make some money, I never thought of it as my personal car to keep. I used to own a Nissan 200SX which had been modified to about 280bhp and I never thought the MR2 would be as much fun, but I was wrong! I fell in love with the balance and handling of the car, leaving much more powerful cars (it was a standard 122bhp when I first bought it) for dead on twisty roads. So I ended up doing everything I could to restore it, and then tune and modify it. Here are some pictures of the transformation:

The car has had a full body rebuild, I fully stripped down the engine and replaced any parts that were not 100%, also adding: HKS camshafts and cam pulleys, Smallport cylinderhead, ported and polished, Toyota Team Europe manifolds, larger injectors and fuelrail, polished throttle body for optimum gas flow, TRD steel head gasket, HKS spark plugs, custom cold air intake, full straight through custom built exhaust. Fensport Racing lowering springs and Koni shock absorbers, TRD bushes kit, TRD anti-roll bars. Reconditioned rear brake calipers and front brake calipers from a Toyota Celica ST185. The wheels are Lenso RS5 with 195/50/R15 Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres (I use the original wheels for track and drag strip use). Also the interior has been totally replaced with TRD short-shifter kit and a Momo steering wheel for street use, and a small OMP steering wheel for track use.

I forgot to mention, a good place to buy electronic goods in the UK is from: www.amazon.co.uk, but I dont know if they will deliver to Italy.
I have asked a few friends with Mk3 about the way Toyota has dealt with the pre-cat problems, which also has affected many UK cars, I will let you know when I have more information. However I do know that most people simply de-cat the cars straight away to avoid any risks, and that those who have suffered and are under warrenty have found Toyota very useful with fixing the problems. |

I think Amazon delivers worldwide...

Thanx a lot. Eventually ask them to partecipate to our international survey... (for tips about our Italian subscription module, I can give you a link for them...)
And if you are a member of MROC too, please make us some "advertising" there since I would like to improve relationship between our clubs.
About your car... what else to say: you have done an amazing job on it! |

The best way to advertise this site would be to give me some of the best pictures and videos from Italian MR2s and I'll put them on the MR2OC forums. I am a member, but I dont use the site very much. I'll try to get some mk3 owners to come and fill out the survey, can you give me the link so they can register easily?
Im glad you like my car! |

You are one of our member now, so you have a full access on our download (videos) area and (pics) gallery too... look there if you find something you like and eventually post a direct link.
May I suggest you one? Try this... http://www.mr2.it/HTML/download/turbo.wmv

Well, you can find tips for subscription here: http://www.spyderchat.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=4269249#4269249
And some already done "advertising" on http://www.spyderchat.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=4290990#4290990

Well, usually MKIs we see in Italy (mostly during our meetings...) don't seem so "new" if you well understand what I mean and works you've done on your one are great even as "style" (not too much "tuning style" as some people do...).
But tell me, now, when you'll come to Italy, what about your "right drive" car? Do you think to bring it here too? |

Ive posted the video and this site link on a few places, some might not like me 'plugging' another site, but hopefully some people will come and sign up.
Thats a great video. I'd like to see that car on a drag-strip against a normal MR-S.
Do you know the power it's making? |

Thanx a lot. About problems on "plugging" another site as you told... I've never had on Spyderchat, even becouse I do this in "both direction" and I don't think our sites are "direct competitors"...

That video was shot by our Agif as some more (I counsel you the Monza Speedway video that is really cool!!! Agif with his car making a full 360° @ about 100 MPH in it!!! ) Anyway, I like "that" car too... and in a drag-strip there is simply no race@all with a normal MR-S.

Sshhhhh... it's top secret!!!
If you want some hints anyway you can do a peek on http://www.hasspower.com and look for Stage II turbo kit... |

Ive had a look around the Hasspower site, has anymore work been done on top of the stage two kit? I'll try and get some videos of the UK MR-S with supercharger and turbo kits.
Are the videos in the same section as the photo galleries? |

Yep...
One more ECU for fine tuning and monitoring/log functions (Greddy Profec), one LM-1 "intelligent" wide band (by Inovative Motorsport) capable of log too, electronic boost controller with on-steering remote activation key, bigger GT28RS turbo, undercar intercooler carbon wing to increase intercooler efficiency (this one not yet installed on video: when video was shot car had still a lot of things to be fixed, only @ its first miles with kit installed!) and Spec Stage III+ six copper pucks clutch (to "take" about two times stock torque!).

On MROC Slacey should have about the same kit...

That sounds like a serious bit of kit!
Im currently looking for the parts to build a Mk1 with the 240bhp Mk2 Rev 3 MR2 Turbo engine, which I will hopefully build over the next few months before I move to Italy. There are about 6 here in the UK already done and they are eating up Porsche 911 Turbos and then spitting them out! Hopefully I'll bring it to Italy as well. |
